February Guest Space: The Complexities of Colonialism in Ireland

Bernard Sweeney is a Traveller advocate and film-maker, who runs his own podcast show with a focus on shedding the light on the lived effects of colonisation in Ireland. He spends an average of 60 hours per week conducting research, talking to Travellers and other interested people about TraVision and ways to showcase Traveller culture, history and lived experience. Despite the lack of opportunities in formal education, he rises to the challenge and has gained demonstrated experience in film making and digital media through Red Rua, Dublin. Against the odds, he has achieved multiple projects to date and continues to make progress.

Dilean MacSearraigh (Dillion Foley) is an archaeologist from Sligo, Ireland. With a BA in Archaeology and Information Technology from NUI Galway, he worked as a field archaeologist for ten years.

Bernard Sweeney and Dilean MacSearraigh will take you through the complexities of colonialism in Ireland.
