RESISTING RACIAL TRAUMA

COMMUNITY SKILL BUILDING SESSION ON RACIAL TRAUMA

May 24th 2025 – Race Reflections, Milton Keynes, 100 Avery Boulevard, MK9, 1FH

The empirical evidence on the impact of racism on both mental and physical health is unequivocal when it comes to the harm it causes.

Race inequality within the mental health system remains alarming and yet few are the training institutions addressing racial trauma within their curriculum and supporting practitioners to develop the necessary skills and experience to address this unmet need. As a result, impacted groups often have to manage without adequate support.

This is why Race Reflections is doing what it can help build the capacity of those struggling with Racial Trauma in the community.

This day course is for those who want to share thoughts and reflections on racial trauma in community, connect with others also engaged in self-examination and interrogation.

The day will be reflective and practical rather than didactic. We will focus on skills acquisition to buffer the impact of racialised violence on the self, one’s family and community, through conversations and practise.

If you’d like a place please use the form below to let us know why you’d like to join us, on the day. Please tell us a little bit about you. And if we can offer you one spot, we’ll confirm as soon as possible.

Please note, places will be allocated at the discretion of Race Reflections based on apparent needs.
